The special limited engagement of “Love Letters” to benefit Steel Beam Theatre which stars national theatrical headliner and award-winning film star Rikki Lee Travolta and celebrated Chicago actress Deborah Swinford enters its final weekend: March 1st, 2nd, and 3rd.
The fundraiser event has raised thousands of dollars in ticket sales and donations for the nonprofit, professional theatre that has stood as a pillar of the Chicago entertainment community for over 20 years.
The production, directed by Heartstrings Award-winner Regina Belt-Daniels, has earned glowing reviews from audiences and theatre critics alike. Shaw Media raved about the depth of emotions Travolta and Swinford convey throughout the dramatic story.
Regarded as one of the most heart-touching plays in modern theatre, “Love Letters”by A.R. Gurney is the perfect touch of romance for this time of year. The Pulitzer Prize finalist play presents soulful interpretations of a lifetime’s worth of love letters between two entwined souls – beginning when they were just children and culminating at the end of their lives.
“This is a beautifully written play by A.R. Gurney that will touch you, move you, and enlighten you. It’s very powerful and very fulfilling,” says Travolta of the production of “Love Letters” entering its final weekend.
The remaining performances are Friday, March 1st at 7:30 PM; Saturday, March 2nd at 7:30 PM; and Sunday, March 3rd at 2 PM. Advance ticket reservations are recommended.
The production is sponsored in part by Kimmer’s Ice Cream, Generation Tux, Entertainability Group, and Laura Orrico Public Relations. Additional fundraising support was provided by Joseph Keefe. Additional marketing support was provided by John Olson Communications.
Barry Norton, created the scenic mural that draws the audience in, even before the actors take the stage. In addition to being a talented scenic designer, he is also accomplished director and provided additional insights as a part of the creative team.
“We appreciate the outpouring of support from theatergoers and the business community,” says Travolta. “There’s still time to purchase tickets for the final weekend of ‘Love Letters’ at Steel Beam and to make donations to benefit this fine theatrical institution in its time of need.”
